According to Dr Sharib:
"Al- Baqi is the One Who lives forever and is free from extinction and
death."
To emulate the name we are advised to do good deeds and spend in the
way of Allah, "for good actions live even after death and they are
rewarded".
Appropriate recitation saves one from loss.

Some other references:
Al-Ghazali refers to The Everlasting as "the existent whose existence is
necessary in itself". This encompasses both 'the forever' as having no
end and the 'absolutely eternal' as having no beginning.
"...what is above change and motion is not in time, and past and future
has no part of it, so in such things passing is no different from enduring."
"To the extent that there is no renewal or no expiration, there is no time."
"... the Truth, may He be praised and exalted was before time, and to the
extent that He created time is not at all changed in His essence."

To Him belongs the command
