According to Dr Sharib:
"Al-Hakim is the One Who is endowed with utmost knowledge, thorough
and profound proficiency, and perfection in knowledge and learning. He
knows what is best. He is well acquainted with the secrets and the
implications of things known and unknown. Real wisdom lies in the
gnosis of Allah."
To emulate the name we are advised to abstain from frivolous talk, and
idle pursuits, and to take to constructive work. Having hope, belief, and
faith, we should prefer the permanent things of the next world to the
transitory things of this.
Appropriate recitation averts troubles and opens the gates of
knowledge.

Some other references:
Al-Ghazali says that "wisdom is equivalent to knowledge of superior
things through the highest mode of knowing."
He quotes the holy Prophet Muhammed's sayings:
"That which is little yet sufficient is better than a great deal that distracts."
"For one who becomes healthy in his body, safe in his surroundings with
his daily food, it is as though the world in its totality belongs to him."
"Speech is responsible for misfortune"
"Silence is wisdom - but few accomplish it".
He who follows these and similair sayings truly, is called wise.
(Al-Ghazali - The Ninety-nine Beautiful Names of God. Trans. Burrel/Daher: ITS: 1992.)
Action or advice based on knowledge is usually called wisdom. In
common experience a person makes a 'wise' purchase when they have
reviewed, evaluated and balanced all the available knowledge and
factors and chosen the thing most suited to their purpose.
A person is truly wise when he has access to deeper knowledge of the
working of God in the universe - and thus can suggest a course of action
which is based on the application of that Universal Knowledge to a
particular circumstance. The sound judgment of the prophet Solomon,
based on his deep knowledge of the workings of God in the universe,
including the inner states and workings of people, is called the wisdom
of Solomon and has become proverbial. This is demonstrated in the
famous story of the two women who fought over a child.
In the passage from the holy Qur'an quoted above the Wisdom of God is
associated with His being "acquainted with all things" - this is ultimate
wisdom because based on ultimate knowledge possessed by God
alone. The angels questioned God's wisdom in making man (Qur'an
2:30-33) and He showed them that He alone has all knowledge and they
confessed that they only knew what He allowed them to know.
